IT Management Solutions Gives Back at the Rockland County Repair Cafe in New City, NY

This past Saturday, our team at IT Management Solutions had the privilege of joining the Rockland County Repair Cafe in New City, NY to help local residents fix the everyday devices they rely on. Free of charge, no strings attached, just neighbors helping neighbors with technology. People came in from across Rockland County, Westchester County, and the wider Hudson Valley, and we left with a much fuller appreciation for what community really looks like.

We have always believed that good IT support is more than a service contract. It is about showing up for the people in your community when something stops working and they do not know where to turn. The Repair Cafe was the perfect place to do exactly that.

    Why Community Repair Events Matter

Community technology events like the Repair Cafe Hudson Valley fill a real gap. Most people are not going to pay a service fee just to find out whether a microphone is broken or a battery is finally giving up. Without an event like this, those devices end up in a drawer or in the trash, and a perfectly fixable laptop becomes one more piece of electronic waste.

Repair Cafes do three things at once. They help people stay connected, they keep working hardware out of landfills, and they bring local technicians, retirees, students, and families into the same room around a shared goal. For a local IT company in Rockland County, that mix is exactly where we want to be.

Serving Rockland, Westchester, and the Hudson Valley

If you need help with a device today, you do not have to wait for the next event. Our team provides Rockland County IT support, Westchester computer repair, and Hudson Valley technology support year-round.

    Stories From the Repair Table

We spent the day moving from device to device. Some repairs took five minutes. Others were a lot of careful diagnostics. Here are a few of the moments that stood out.

    Cellphone Microphone Repair

A resident brought in a phone whose microphone had stopped working on calls. We diagnosed the issue on the spot and helped restore clear audio so they could stay connected with family.

    iCloud Setup and Recovery

Another visitor needed help signing back into iCloud after a long lockout. We walked them through verification, two-factor settings, and confirmed all photos and contacts were safely synced.

    Failing Laptop Battery

A laptop owner thought their machine was dying. The battery report showed it was holding only about 10 percent of its original capacity. The laptop itself was fine, the battery just needed replacement.

Devices We Could Not Repair Onsite

A few devices, including game controllers and small pocket projectors, needed specialty parts we did not have at the table. We documented what was wrong and pointed owners toward the right next step.

The Laptop Battery That Almost Got Thrown Out

One repair that really stuck with us was a laptop that the owner was ready to give up on. It would barely make it through a short task before shutting down. We pulled a full battery report and confirmed the battery was holding roughly 10 percent of its original design capacity. The rest of the laptop was in great shape.

We sent the owner a direct link to the correct replacement battery for their model and offered to install it for them, free of charge, at the next Repair Cafe. A device they thought was dead is going to keep serving them for years. That is the difference a quick laptop battery diagnostic can make.

If you are dealing with similar slowdowns or shutdowns at home, our Managed Home IT program is built exactly for this kind of proactive support, before a small problem becomes a big one.

Why We Show Up For The Community

Giving back to the community and putting smiles on everyone's faces was extremely rewarding.

We are growing as a company, but we never want to outgrow the community that supports us. As IT Management Solutions continues to expand across Rockland County, Westchester, and the Hudson Valley, we are committed to staying involved in events like this one.

At the end of the day, our community is the reason why we all grow together.

Whether it is helping a neighbor recover an iCloud account, walking a senior through a new phone, or partnering with local schools and businesses on cybersecurity, this is the work that keeps us grounded. You can read more about how we approach it across our core services and our cybersecurity practice.
