THE LOCAL PICTURE
Make temporary access expire cleanly.
The Town of Highlands describes Highland Falls, Fort Montgomery, Bear Mountain State Park and historic West Point in its local geography. A business serving visitors or working with temporary staff may need an easy way to provide limited access while keeping its own files, devices and administration separate.
Local background & sourcesIT MGMT can help a Highlands business define guest Wi-Fi, temporary staff access and the handoff at the end of a visit or assignment. This civilian business planning does not imply a relationship with West Point, access to restricted facilities or authority to change government systems.
A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT
Build a temporary-access routine
Use the same record when access begins and when it ends, even for a short visit.
Classify the visitor’s task
Decide whether the person needs internet only, a specific shared document or access to an approved application. Name the business owner responsible for authorizing that access.
Define a repeatable intakeProvide the narrow connection
Set up supported guest access that does not expose business devices. For an application, use the vendor’s appropriate delegated account instead of a shared staff password.
Separate visitor connectivitySet the end condition
Record the assignment end date or checkout event and who will revoke access. Use supported expiration settings where available and confirm account recovery stays with the business.
Control temporary permissionsCheck departure and records
Remove the temporary access through the approved process, return any loaned device and retain only the work records the business needs. Test that ordinary staff access still works.
Maintain the access handoff
Welcome household guests without sharing private access.
- Set up household guest access separately from family storage and smart-home administration.
- Leave employer and government device settings with the organization authorized to manage them.

Start with what the contractor actually needs. Guest internet access and access to a particular business system are different permissions. Use the supported guest or delegated-access method and agree an end date instead of sharing broad administrator credentials.
No. Restricted facilities, government systems and employer-managed devices have their own authorization requirements. Any work must be agreed with the responsible organization and fit IT MGMT’s approved scope.
Yes. Our managed home IT services are designed for households as well as remote professionals. Explore the home protection plans, then contact us to confirm your address, supported devices, and the service scope that fits your setup.
Our business services are designed for 5–100 users. Standard help-desk hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Eastern, with 24-hour support available through PSA ticketing when needed. Response terms and onsite arrangements follow your service agreement. Home IT is available separately for households.
We can discuss a defined project or ongoing support alongside your existing arrangements. We start by identifying who owns each system, which permissions are available, and how responsibilities will be divided.
We start with your address, the systems involved, and the issue you want to solve. We then agree which work can be handled remotely, which needs a scheduled visit, and the scope and response arrangements included in your plan.
